This barn swallow was content to sit and watch me while I
got this photograph. They spend most of their time flying
rapidly. Swallows catch and eat flying insects on the wing.
They are good to have around.
A pocket
gopher piled dirt on the curb, which spilled into
the puddle in the gutter. The barn swallows collected mud here to
build their nests.
This is my most successful effort so far to photograph a
barn swallow in flight. They move fast.
