We have
had an occasional cedar waxwing visit our yard, not very often. I
think they are mostly winter residents.
One day
in a near by park I watched as a flock of a couple hundred or so cedar
waxwings flew in to feast on the fruit of this California plane tree (Platanus racemosa). How many
do you see in this picture?.
If you
look carefully, you can see the "waxy" red tips of the wing feathers on
the bird at the left.
